About Us

Little League is one of the most dynamic nationwide youth movements of our time. This tremendous movement had its local start in Livingston when a small group of men created four teams consisting of 60 children to start a Little League baseball program. Today, 49 years later, over 600 children are embraced in this program.

Creation of Little League has brought about the realization of happiness in our community through families enjoying the pleasures of working and playing together.

The purpose for which it was formed is..."to promote in all lawful ways the interest of children who will participate in 'Little League' baseball and to help and assist them in developing qualities of citizenship and sportsmanship."

As a baseball program for children under 13 years of age, it has revitalized the finest traditions of the game in character and concepts; it has become a vital force in shaping the future of youngsters each year.

Little League is the reflection of community initiative in the dedication of hundreds of adult volunteers. It conveys the inherent and contagious enthusiasm of children for baseball as it connotes ideals of fair play, leadership and teamwork.

OBJECTIVES AND BENEFITS

Little League Baseball is essentially a program of service to youth. It is geared to provide an outlet of healthful activity and training under good leadership in the atmosphere of wholesome community participation.

The value of teamwork, fair play, courage, loyalty and discipline are widely accepted as recognizable benefits of Little League. Along the way, of course, the children learn good sportsmanship and understanding. They meet children from beyond their neighborhood boundaries, from other schools, and learn to be members of teams comprised of children of all races and creed.
